After very much enjoying making a shawl to give away, I promised myself that my next project would be one to keep. This would be it—a real keeper.
This winter I’ve joined my first ever yarn club—Hedgehog Fibres sock yarn— and I have not been disappointed. This yarn was in the first batch and I totally love it. It’s all Stephen’s fault that I’m into fancy-pants hand dyed yarn because while building his website I was forced (forced!) to ogle gorgeous yarn photos.
The pattern is a fairly new one from Gudrun Johnston’s Shetland Trader, called Simmer Dim. I love how simple it is, but with a fun lacy edge. I think it’s very modernly wearable. We all know of the deep lying association of shawls an old ladies, and this shawl is all of the awesome and not too much of the fuss.

Yay! I’m so glad I persuaded you to try some yummy luxurious hand-dyed yarn. Hedgehog Fibres is one of the best independent dyers around in my opinion. You got yourself a winner!
only you can make a shawl so rock and roll.
beautiful deep deep colour.
It is beautiful!
Beautiful!
Very pretty shawl… but why do you look so pissed off?
